You're interested in game development careers. What should you know before taking the leap?
For audio, certainly getting your skills up in Digital Audio Workstations (ProTools, Reaper, Audacity) and wave editors (Soundforge, RX, Wavelab) is key. Getting good with middleware tools (particularly Wwise and/or FMOD) is also really strong and helps tons. Lastly, just try messing around and getting an understanding audio implementation in the various game engines available (unity, unreal, godot). Maybe choose one of each and get as proficient in them as you can, because once you're good with it, it'll be a pretty trivial matter moving to a different tool if the need arises. The fundamental skills behind each area will translate.

Education is great, but don't let silly things like college tuition costs, or whether to do University vs community college get in your way. This industry was literally founded by dropouts and nerdy weirdos that did things there wasn't even a book for back in the day. At the end of the day, it all comes down to your ability to do the skill, and how you can show them you're great at it. Practice makes perfect. But you can learn everything through youtube, tutorials, going out doing game jams, getting involved in local game dev communities and just dedicating the time to hone the craft you're pursuing.

Networking has been 100% of how i got anywhere in this industry. Making strong and lasting connections with people, being sincere, following through and showing your reliability will definitely get people remembering and most of all, recommending you whenever the opportunity arises.

Math Monster Carnival
Developed in conjunction with the Center on Teaching at Learning at the University of Oregon, this educational game takes common core math curricula from early grades, and transforms them into game-like experiences. MMC features a unique aesthetic by Portland artist Brian Wolf, and delightful interactions that keeps kids engaged. By plugging into a back-end analytics engine created by CTL, teachers can get the information they need to help their students succeed.

"ATTENTION PEOPLE OF EARTH!
The peaceful planet of Earth has been invaded by evil aliens! These aliens, the Zorn Empire, want nothing more than to conquer and enslave every planet they come across. Yikes!"
SoccerDie is a harken back to the classic 8-bit era of games. Everything, even down to the color palette and sound quality was created aesthetically to be in that era.
I created all the sound effects and some additional music for the menu, boss fight, and cutscenes.Other creatorsSee project -
