Here's how you can ensure timely project completion through effective communication.
This is where Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) will be your best friend. Establish clear, attainable, but aggressive goals at the beginning of the quarter/month/week. Make sure it is measurable. When you have your check ins with your direct reports, address the progress toward those KPIs. Be consistent in checking in on those.

How can you evaluate your competition when developing a business plan?
The first thing to note here: if you think you don't have competition, you are wrong. There is always a competitor. Facebook is a great example to use here. Before Facebook, there was MySpace. Before MySpace, there were instant messaging apps like AOL and ICQ. People will always find ways to solve their needs today, while you are developing better solutions for tomorrow. Once you've accepted you have competitors, you can begin to truly assess your ultimate differentiator and test it with potential customers. Then, seek feedback like it is gold. Businesses that are most likely to fail are the ones that fail to research and survey their target customers and the demand.
