  • Three Drivers of Shadow Banking and case for their regulation

    This paper focuses on three drivers of the shadow banking system no capital restrictions, low transparency and excessive leverage and explains how these drivers intensifies the counterparty risk, liquidity risk and systemic risk. It also traces the growth of shadow banking culling out the reasons for such exponential growth. Having discussed the growth and subsequent deficiencies in shadow banks, this paper examines regulatory reforms in context of these drivers.
