    -

L’éléphant dans la Salle- (The Elephant in the Room) is a month long art exhibit that combines art, performance and outreach. Co- producers Niki Lopez & Alana DaCosta collaborated on theme and identity for the exhibit. There was a concept created and call for artists for work that directly fits the theme. Artists were hand selected, pieces were selected. There was also a line up for performers and poets for the opening night. The exhibit took place at the 1310 Gallery - a 3 floor 2500 sq…

The exhibit took place at the 1310 Gallery - a 3 floor 2500 sq ft gallery space within the Sailboat Bend Artists Community. Within the month long art exhibit were five different events as well as other co-hosts/community partners.
There was a opening with performance, LGBT poetry Night, a Dr. Sketchy's South Florida, a community workshop & panel discussion, and will close with another night of performance, poetry, and open mic hosted by Alana DaCosta.

There is also a interactive installation & campaign kick off. "The Confessional' is a safe space within the exhibit where the public is invited to go inside and share their 'elephant' These 'confessions will be used to kick off a project called #whatsyourelephant which aims to have provocative conversations around various unspoken topics.

Michael Leslie was the designer who was able to take the concepts & some of the branding to create the official printed flyer for the exhibit.
    More on the exhibit.

    More on the exhibit:
L’éléphant dans la Salle- (The Elephant in the Room) is an idiom for an obvious truth that is either being ignored, or otherwise unaddressed. The purpose of this exhibit is to provide a safe place for issues and topics that are normally hidden from public view.

Through visual and performance art, the artists participating in this event will share secrets and taboos, discussing openly to find solutions for our own individual and collective emancipation. Viewers are invited to enter the ‘Confessional’, an interactive safe space installation to share their ‘elephant’.
