  • Social Networking Cryptographic Software

    • Implemented TCP Communication using TCP Socket Programming for activating encrypted layer.
    • Used Cryptographic Security measures Triple-DES(Encryption), MD5(Integrity) and used OpenSSL as a transfer medium.
    • Tested on an Apache Server, used security measures for posts being updated on a Social networking site, so unauthorized person cannot access the post.

  • Port Scanner Implementation (Link)


    • This project implemented different scanning of the ports of a remote machine to establish whether the ports were open, closed or filtered.
    • Implemented raw packet creation for different protocols like TCP, UDP, ICMP etc.
    • These packets were sent out to the remote client and monitoring was done with a tool called WireShark.

  • Network Intrusion Detection

    • Configured an Intrusion Detection System on the host, assessed vulnerabilities using Nessus.
    • Used Metasploit, Netcat, Sslstrip and Scapy to create Man-in-the-middle attacks, DoS and exploit vulnerabilities.

  • Password Protection

    -

    • Cracked real MD5 and SHA-256 hashes and employed techniques to uncover hashed passwords quickly.
    • Made password requirements that would guard against these techniques and store password hashes securely.

  • Reference Monitor (Restricted Python)

    -

    • Created a File Monitor that acts as a security layer by monitoring reads and writes to a file and only allows authorized users and groups to make changes or access a file. Protects against multithreading attacks.
