How can you measure the social impact of a complex systems change project?
Equity Quotient has 7 publicly available dashboards ranging from Public Health to Housing, Supplier Diversity to Workforce Diversity. Our goal is to provide an objective view for any organization to understand how they benchmark to the area they operate in. We created a concept called Demographic Alignment (TM), allowing firms to understand the value for example of aligning their hospital staff to the community they serve and how that can help lower mortality rates by 50% in children and 15% in adults. We have similar insights in banking, education, supplier diversity, and more.

How can you measure the social impact of a complex systems change project?
I co-founded Equity Quotient, an AI-powered stakeholder intelligence platform that aggregates public, 3rd party, and where there are gaps, build 1st party datasets to help organizations benchmark their impact. It’s one thing to know your companies impact, or the numerator. The next dimension is to understand the denominator, how your company benchmarks to the community and the impact it has on your stakeholders at large- workforce, suppliers, and customers.

When I started my agency, Keep The Change, we developed a Theory of Change model specific to the for-profit sector that helped companies better understand the triple bottom line value of impact. Most companies stop at outputs, few measure the next dimension of outcomes to impact. Now at EquityQuotient.io, we are focusing on the measuring the next dimension of health outcomes as it relates to societal impact.

How do you learn from and improve your social impact performance over time?
In my experience as the founder of Equity Quotient, the ability to truly measure impact over time is by considering 5 key factors. We need: 1. Rich data powered by accurate information from multiple public and private sources to create actionable insights 2. Regional benchmarking to understand the world you live in and how you look compared to peers 3. Ecosystem alignment 4. Easy to manage goal setting and tracking systems 5. Clear, automated reporting systems These are often costly to implement for companies in both money and time, but the explosion of AI and ML can make this process more accessible to everyone to truly create solutions to ensure we’re helping to drive a thriving economy powered by its people.

I was part of the first ever two-person team to row across the North Sea. Our objective was to raise funds and awareness for Mission Blue in efforts to drive impact in protecting our oceans.
Our team currently holds the World Record for the fastest two person team to row across the North Sea, ~220 nautical miles in 45hrs and 22min.
