What do you do if your motivation as a thought leader in continuing education wanes?
Run screaming. Work life is not worth living without the constant fuel of intellectual growth. And there’s a real problem if the excitement of learning isn’t fundamental to your work environment. If you’re forced to follow some tortured step-wise process to engage yourself and find ways to learn, that just means it’s not there organically, motivating you daily. Plenty of industry and company situations, roles and career tracks, leadership teams and firm cultures afford the space and circumstance for continuous learning as it should be, in the natural flow of work. If this matters to you, acknowledge that it’s a career driver and go find it—and your happiness along with it.

Your thought leadership is being questioned by a colleague. How can you defend your insights effectively?
Remember: when you’re defending, you’re losing. Lean in, embrace the questioning. Maybe there’s something for you to learn, either about the topic or about how others are digesting your perspective. Maybe there’s an opportunity to teach. Maybe there’s an opportunity to build to next-level thought by bringing your two heads together.

You're aiming to enhance your thought leadership. How can you negotiate partnerships within financial limits?
So much of the energy in thought leadership these days is about volume and coverage—the partners, the channels, the reach. Of course all that matters, but what about the quality of the thinking? With AI cranking out 80% ready (by the way, average) output in 1:50th the time, and content teams versioning nonstop for use cases, real and unique insight feels increasingly rare. What “only-one in the world” data sets do you possess that can be leveraged for breakthrough teaching, and what gifted minds in your organization can articulate top percentile insight? Let’s spend just a little more time upstream in the divination of quality thinking, so that the machinery downstream can have real impact in the market.
