The event was covered extensively in national rugby media and also locally by the Wisconsin State Journal…Volunteer committee of local senior club players from Madison United Rugby men's and women's teams (Wisconsin Rugby Club Men, Wisconsin Women's Rugby) to host the 2014 USA Rugby Club National Championships on Saturday, May 31, 2014 and Wisconsin Boys State Championships, Sunday, June 1, 2014.
The weekend welcomes more than 3,000 attendees to Breese Stevens Field in Madison, Wis. The event was covered extensively in national rugby media and also locally by the Wisconsin State Journal, WISC TV-3, NBC 15, WKOW 27, and other local organizations. The committee coordinated the hosting of a five-match tournament on Saturday featuring 10 teams from nine different states playing for national championships in Divisions 1, 2, 3 for men and Divisions 1 and 2 for women. Sunday's State Championships featured two matches with four teams. The event was fully staffed by more than 100 volunteers managed by the committee, with both food and merchandise vendors, in addition to a full-color, 16-page gloss printed event program with paid sponsorships.
This National Championship event was the largest rugby event ever held in Madison, Wis., and the first held at Breese Stevens Field since 1984. Both days were also live-streamed to an international audience via USA Rugby TV.Other creators -
