As a student at UT Austin, I was able to benefit from both a rigorous and curated multidisciplinary liberal arts honors curriculum (BA in the Plan II Honors Program) and the opportunities presented by a well-funded and diverse life sciences research program (BS in Molecular Biology). My Honors Thesis research, performed in the laboratory of Alan Lambowitz and supported in part by UT Austin Undergraduate Research Awards, was focused on re-targeting retrohoming genetic elements to disrupt gene…
