I was selected to join The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, Brenau University-Chapter 301. Founded in 1897, Phi Kappa Phi is the nation’s oldest, most selective, and most prestigious all-discipline honor society. The purpose of Phi Kappa Phi is to celebrate excellence in academics and integrity of character among our administration, faculty, students, and staff.

Membership is an honor that is neither cheaply won nor widely bestowed. Phi Kappa Phi exists because the founders believed, as all members still believe, that there are achievements worthy of celebration: academic work of extraordinary quality, exemplary leadership, and research that advances human knowledge. The invitation for membership recognizes distinguished performance in study, research, or leadership, sustained over a period of years, marking the transition from accomplished work of high merit to continued exceptional attainment. Phi Kappa Phi members have served in the White House, Congress, and the Supreme Court of the United States. They have won Nobel Prizes, Pulitzer Prizes, and numerous other national and international awards for service and achievement in their chosen fields. When this award was given to me, Dr. Isom-Barnes highlighted the great experience she had with me as a graduate student throughout my entire time at Queens University of Charlotte. She talked about the fact that I am willing to step outside of my comfort zone to learn more and that I am always willing to participate and provide really relevant contributions to class based on my extensive corporate experience. Lambda Pi Eta (LPH) is the National Communication Association’s official honor society at four-year colleges and universities. LPH has more than 500 active chapters at four-year colleges and universities nationwide.

LPH became a part of the National Communication Association in 1988, and the association's official honor society in July 1995. It is a member of the Association of College Honor Societies (ACHS).

Lambda Pi Eta (LPH) is the National Communication Association’s official honor society at four-year colleges and universities. LPH has more than 500 active chapters at four-year colleges and universities nationwide.

LPH became a part of the National Communication Association in 1988, and the association's official honor society in July 1995. It is a member of the Association of College Honor Societies (ACHS).

LPH represents what Aristotle described in Rhetoric as three ingredients of persuasion: logos (Lambda), meaning logic; pathos (Pi), relating to emotion; and ethos (Eta), defined as character credibility and ethics.

To be eligible for admission, graduate students must meet the following criteria:

•Complete 12 hours of graduate credit-hours (18 quarter hours) in Communication
•Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5
•Currently be enrolled as a student in good standing, as determined by the institution’s policies. Show less
