    In May 2013, Governor Jay Inslee signed Executive Order 13-01, Veteran Transition Support, which formalized the relationship between JBLM and WA State and empowered multiple state agencies to establish innovative strategies to help rebuild the state economy and return our Veterans to full employment.
    Executive Order 13-01 directed the creation of the Washington State Military Transition Council (WSMTC) giving authority to multiple state agencies to work with local, state, and federal governments, as well as private and non-profit organizations to develop innovative ideas to reduce Veteran unemployment. The Director of the DVA is the Chair of the Council.
    The Military Transition Council has an Executive Committee, Strategic Planning Committee, Advisory Group and four workgroups that are focused on Veteran 1) Employment; 2) Education: 3) Career/Technical Training; and 4) Veteran owned small business and entrepreneurship.

    The WSMTC was the first of its kind relationship in the US.

    Hope Alliance for Kids is a faith based non-profit corporation created to provide support and services to at risk youth with an emphasis on foster children and their families. It is a community outreach program of Eastridge Church in Issaquah.
    In 1998 a single Royal Family Kids' Camp for foster children ages 7-11 was offered. In 2015 Hope Alliance for Kids will offer its 17th annual Royal Family Kids’ Camp and 4th annual Teen Reach Adventure Camp for foster teens ages 12-15.
