“Ray's extensive 20+ years of expertise in Supply Chain and technology enablement definitely position him an invaluable asset to any organization and a widely respected figure in the field. But I want to mention why I consider him one of people I respect most in this world: Integrity: Ray's integrity is unwavering and sets an extremely high standard for us. Even in challenging environments, he never conceals or distorts issues. He always treats others with respect and does what's right, even when faced with unequal treatment. Inclusiveness: Ray goes beyond merely executing diversity and inclusiveness as tasks expected of a leader in today's working environment, he genuinely believes in the uniqueness of every individual and truly interested in everyone's story and opinion. He finds beauty in everyone, and he’s so humble to listen and learn. In his team, everyone has a seat at the table and an opportunity to express their opinions, which are then given due consideration. Empowerment: As a leader, Ray excels as a coach and mentor, providing specific inputs and feedback, but what’s unique in him is that he brings out the best in people - He instills confidence in others, making them to believe in themselves and their potentials. He encourages creativity and boldness, and he provides stages for individuals to shine whenever he can. In his team, there are many highly motivated members who are empowered and work diligently for a better self and a better world. I am very grateful for the opportunity to work alongside Ray. While many leaders possess extensive knowledge and experience, finding someone with genuine integrity and extraordinary value is rare. His influence has had a profound impact on me and others. Every day, I strive to follow his step when making decisions and leading my team. I may not have reached that level yet, but I am continually working towards it, inspired by his example.”

What is the best way to benchmark shrinkage in your inventory management system?
I'll focus on warehouse shrinkage versus store/retail shrinkage. I like to split warehouse shrink into two parts: 1) Shrink originating in warehouse operations activities, warehouse damage, lost/missing stock, delivery damage, unuseable customer returns, and inadequate date tracking so that new product is shipped before old; 2) shrink caused by buying practices, e.g., forecast too high so too much product bought before product expired; buying mulitples (economic order quantities) not updated to fit current season/forecast; manual order quantities which are too large, etc. Root cause analysis that separates shrink into these two buckets is very useful!
