The objective of this project was to design, manufacture, and fly a high-powered rocket with active control systems. The purpose of our control system is to maintain stability and vertical orientation during the flight, achieve apogee within an accepted range of a set target, and return safely to the ground. To accomplish this, the team implemented a flight controller to control the rocket, constructed a test bench for rocket motor research, created a MATLAB simulation to validate our design and flight, and assembled a launch platform to provide stability initially during launch. The team successfully demonstrated the onboard control system technology in an accurate and repeatable manner while using safe manufacturing practices and implementing risk mitigation techniques, including design constraints and budget.
