What do you do if your complex news story needs a creative twist?
Every once in a while, I find a cultural reference point, find the direct impact on you (and address the audience directly as “you” on-air) or add in how people are reacting to the story on social media. The latter will enable you to give almost real-time reaction from real people to what you’re reporting on. I’m also a huge fan of adding puns in my intro, when appropriate!

In October, 2022, I received the Clarion Award for Radio Feature Story from the AWC -Association for Women in Communications for my April 2021 story on the Social Media Influencer Racial Pay Gap.
I did this feature during my time with #BloombergRadio in collaboration with Bloomberg Quicktake. First Place in Radio Enterprise Reporting for JANY
Journalists Association of New York, formerly the New York State Associated Press Association
My Bloomberg Radio feature on the Racial Pay Gap in Social Media won First Place in the Radio Enterprise Reporting category for the Journalists Association of New York (JANY), formerly the New York State Associated Press Association, making the second award for this feature.
The report was the sole piece nominated in its category for the JANY awards, a huge honor!
The Judges' comments note: "Solid reporting, writing and production. a well-done piece on an issue many may have not…My Bloomberg Radio feature on the Racial Pay Gap in Social Media won First Place in the Radio Enterprise Reporting category for the Journalists Association of New York (JANY), formerly the New York State Associated Press Association, making the second award for this feature.
