He also served as co-CEO of the Permanente Federation. Isaacs was formerly physician-inchief for the Kaiser Permanente South Sacramento Medical Center, the system’s first Level 2 trauma center.

Since 2017, Rich Isaacs has led two of the nation’s two largest medical groups, in Northern California and in the mid-Atlantic states of Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C., with nearly 11,000 physicians and more than 5 million members. His medical groups were at the forefront of telehealth even before the COVID-19, with about half of all “touches” between clinical staff and patients in Northern California being “virtual,” a number that surged to 80% during the pandemic.
