Here's how you can select the best employees for your accounting business.

This piece is crucial and what we have recently found is that not everyone uses excel the same way. Asking questions to drill down and ask if they use short cut processes and how do they use them. Using an assessment tool, can help as well. We partner with our staffing associate and they will do a skills test if we need. This really helps to be sure that your candidate can hit the ground running and help you meet your month end closing, goals.

While you source do not hesitate to reach out to talent that is more experience or less experienced than what you are looking for. Networking helps you with potential referrals and future hires. I would also saying being on LinkedIn Groups helps give you more bandwidth. Accounting/Finance is a much needed and a sector that seems to shrink every year. Building a good network will save you a great deal of time!

In defining the needs, it is good to speak to the hiring manager and find out what type of experience has worked best for the team and what has not worked at all. It helps you test those boundaries to see if there is any flex or not. This helps you understand why and also speeds up your search so you are not looking in the wrong places.

It has been my experience that listening and putting yourself in your customers shoes (being consultative), along with reaffirming what they are concerned about and answering any questions and solving problems. The ultimate goal is to earn credibility and that is best done by treating customers as you would your family members or people you most value.

Here's how you can impress interviewers with your knowledge of the company.

To show the interviewer that you are really interested in the opportunity, review the interviewers resume on linkedIn and share something you might have in common. "I noticed you went to UCLA, my mother went there in 1973!" "Your founder is head of the American Cancer Society, I too have been a member since 1993." This proves you dug deeper and did your research, will set you apart from your competitors!!

Here's how you can show your enthusiasm and passion for the position in an interview.

I believe my earlier answer addresses this. Be sure not to cross your arms or lose eye contact. Those things show that you are closed off or not interested.
