Co-Captain of 2015 Bain Capital team which raised approximately $180K for concussion research.
This tournament was the first of its kind in the U.S. and has been a phenomenal success, raising over $1.7M for concussion research at Boston Children’s Hospital. The Boston Children’s Hospital Pediatric Head Trauma Unit is the largest Pediatric Neuroscience Research Enterprise in the United States. Ranked #1 in Pediatric Neurology and Neurosurgery by U.S. News and World Report for six consecutive years, it is home to the multidisciplinary Brain Injury Center. Its partner, the Boston Children’s Hospital Sports Concussion Clinic, is a national leader in pediatric concussion research.

The funds raised by the Corey C. Griffin NHL Alumni Pro-Am will enable the Pediatric Head Trauma Unit to increase scientific understanding of the effects of trauma on the developing brain through pilot research grants and improved information sharing across a range of medical disciplines. The goal of these combined efforts is to create transformative models of care for brain injuries. Funds raised from previous tournaments generated preliminary data which enabled successful grant applications and identified antibodies that may prevent Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE). Without support from the tournament, Children’s may not have been able to get this research off the ground. These funds also have enabled the rollout of statewide baseline testing.
