What are the most effective ways to scale your SaaS startup?
I agree, but there has to be a bit of balance between constant iteration and deliberate focus. Failing fast can be a great way to learn and grow but it can also be frustrating and create ambiguity within your organization, if it feels to reactive. Having a defined process for testing ideas and new product concepts, which relies on trusted stakeholders, advisors and customers, can allow for experimentation within the construct of the organization. As long as this is built into the culture, everyone can share in the experience and contribute their perspective.

What are the most effective ways to scale your SaaS startup?
Automation is definitely key as you continue to scale your organization for high growth. However, you really need to evaluate which aspects of your business makes sense to automate at each stage of growth. By example, if you have not yet fully defined your product or pricing structure, it will be a waste of time and difficult to automate your CRM with contracts and pricing. These areas may be fluctuating a lot and better served by having individual discussion. On the other hand, setting up processes to deal with shipping & receiving and product deployment & training may be great areas to start.

What are the most effective ways to scale your SaaS startup?
In my experience, it also helps to clearly define ideal candidates as well. It goes without saying that you are always searching for the right fit but in early stage startups time is of the essence and mistakes in this area can be costly. In general, I find candidates who have extensive domain knowledge regarding the role, industry expertise and experience, as well as, a deep understanding of similar products and/or services to be ideal fits. Another important characteristic to evaluate is one’s ability to work in a startup environment, which does not always have formal training and onboarding progresses or may lack the clarity and direction typically found in more established companies.
