    A group of college students from RISD, Brown University, Johnson & Whales, University of Rhode Island come together to tutor Liberian youth living in Providence. Many are children of Liberian refugees. Love in Action hopes to build strong friendships between the tutors and the tutees as well as improve basic math and reading skills.

    Working with the staff of New Hope Uganda we use the arts as a therapeutic device to help the children living with orphaned hearts find healing and self discovery. We are currently preparing for an upcoming trip to the homes June 23-July 10.

    We were in groups spread over neighborhoods within Dar es Salaam where we held eyeglass clinics to address the need for literacy in the city where often the reason is poor eye sight. At the end of the trip we ran a large concert, entertainment event over the weekend. I helped with the kids activities.

    With a group from RUF Brown + RISD, we partnered with another group from the Luis Palau Association to serve the children living in the GO Village at Croix des Bouquets, Haiti. We also visited a few other neighboring locations where we also played with the kids and ministered to them, while the other team ran eye glass clinics.

    Disaster and Humanitarian Relief

    For a week we went down to Katrina to help families prepare their homes for FEMA to take care of. This involved gutting the homes, removing all belongings and knocking out walls and debris created by the storm.
