    A Cu-Cr-Zr alloy with composition Cu-1.2%Cr-0.08 %Zr has been studied for its structure-property relation in differently aged conditions. The Cu-Cr-Zr alloys are used in plasma facing component and divertor plates in International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) and other fusion devices. However as a result of repetitive thermal cycle given to the alloy during plasma facing application, the alloy becomes vulnerable to thermal fatigue. Hence an attempt is made in this investigation to assess possible damage due to thermal fatigue. The investigation incorporated analyses of microstructures developed by different heat treatment schedules using optical and scanning electron microscope, tensile tests, hardness tests, and some limited thermal fatigue tests.

  • Simulation of Solidification Processes using LAMMPS

    Under the guidance of Prof. Sudipto Ghosh, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, IIT-Kharagpur.

    Developed a program to simulate the solidification process in Aluminium Alloys which
    involves the use of discrete mathematical model of Cellular Automata under Periodic
    Boundary Condition and also did a Image Modelling of that process in LAMMPS.
