#ivs4charity is an innovative twist on the standard book tour.

To announce my new book, The Invisible Sale, I’m crafted a barnstorming tour across the central, eastern and southern United States. Over the course of 10 days, I’ll visit and co-host 10 #ivs4charity cocktail, networking events to raise awareness of the book and much needed funds for local charities.

I each city, I partnered with DoubleTree Hotels, a few good friends and their favorite charities. Together, we invited consumers to join us to have cocktails for a cause.

50% of ticket sales were donated to each local charity and in many cities the DoubleTree Hotel bar donated between 20% and 50% of the bar tab to the charity too.

This "urban scavenger hunt" took place in New York City, Miami, Atlanta, Dallas, Austin, Chicago, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Seattle all on the same day and enabled consumers to solve riddles in search of a new Dell Inspiron notebook.

This initiative created a propretary platform where players could interact with Dell's newest computers centered on key lifestuly points that helped personalize the Dell brand. Key Dell technology customers and partner elements were integrated into the game to enhance relations and ongoing partnerships. Media captured the launch event while contestants generated a groundswell of grassroots media for Dell via blogs, word-of-mouth and video long after the event had ended.

Throughout the course of the project, GamePlan was the lead strategist behind the game., managed the entire execution in each city and employed over 400 staffers throughout the three time zones.

GamePlan was able to help Dell negotiate options to activate new ideas along the tour with the brand ambassador, kiosks in every arena, ticket upgrades, as well as meet-and-greets with Justin. GamePlan implemented new media tactics in an SMS promotional program to drive traffic to delllounge.com which in turn created some of the heaviest traffic to the site in 2007. This program also had promotional levers where consumers could win Dell laptops signed by Justin that were custom-built to their specifications.
