 Licensed Oil well operators will misreport production data to DOGGR, increasing risk and reducing revenue to citizens. Not enough resources to inspect every well or audit every report from the operators
 IT department does not have the skillsets to build, integrate, and maintain a Big Data set of tools and technologies. Technologists have difficulty in explaining the value of Big Data Analytics to Business
 Data is in multiple formats and stored in multiple locations. Big Data is new to organization. New technology adoption is not the norm.
Actions
Big Data Cloud Accelerate Program from Oracle which included a Data Science Analytic sprint. Rationalized across 18 use cases, Produced a meaningful, applicable and actionable result within 8 week time frame
• 5 Anomaly detectors were developed which proved that 20% of oil and gas production reporting was anomalous across the state.
Result
• Over a 1 year period, potential incremental revenue recovery from improved anomaly detection and reduced ‘false positives’ ranged from $10m to $13m in benefits, this is an ROI of 2500%

I contributed to the development of the first version of the ‘Big Data Hands on lab workshop’ - VM Image consisting of 12 software components configured with 10 hands-on labs and test data.
