A global survey of 2,362 small to medium-sized businesses (SMBs) finds 19% of nearly all the decisions being made are heavily data driven, while more than half (54%) report that business decisions are mostly data driven.

Generative artificial intelligence (AI) is changing how we interact with technology, create content, and run our businesses at a rate not seen since the early days of the internet. Conversations around this exciting technology are everywhere, and interest in its potential across all industries has been dominating headlines, online webinars and corporate events for some time now.

"Small businesses often don’t have the technical resources or depth or maybe experience, think migrations or AI is a perfect example – they’re not necessarily going to have a data scientist on staff," Ben Schreiner, U.S. head of business innovation for SMB at AWS, told FOX Business. "So our partner network for AWS is incredibly important to helping those customers be successful, realizing whatever their strategy is, or even experimenting with some of these new technologies."

Anticipating the future is crucial for small business success. But it may be especially challenging this year since there are so many innovations and potential changes in areas like community building, personalization, finances, marketing, technology, and more.

To help figure it out, I asked several small business experts to share their insights on 2024 trends to better prepare you to navigate our ever-evolving entrepreneurial world.
