What are the most common user flow issues in SaaS products?
Those mentioned so far are challenges but they're not unique to Saas. Lack of clarity, too many steps, no feedback, and inconsistency are challenges I see everyday in digital experiences online. I humbly offer my list of uniquely-Saas challenges: 1) Remnants of the past: Not all, but a lot of Saas systems look and act like they were designed by reverent followers of an MS-DOS fanclub, replete with 8-bit icons. 2) Designing for casual vs. power users: It's tough to do. 3) Complex, multi-level IA: Levels and levels and levels of navigation — identified by 8-bit iconography. 4) I do agree about a lack of customization: but not at the user-level. An implementation shouldn't include functions an organization doesn't use.

How can you adapt your UX design approach to different projects and audiences?
At its foundation, successful experience design has to include some level of understanding, iteration, alignment, testing, execution, watching, and then starting over at the beginning. A project and the team undertaking it defines the extent and method of each of those. Anything else is just more detail of one.

Then we designed branch “micro sites” that complimented – not replaced - the personal relationships Edward Jones and their more than 13,000 Financial Advisors develop with their clients. Finally, we designed an award winning career site.
