Explored the possibility of using sensors embedded in to the array of things package to sense uncleared snow on the streets and clear them using snow ploughs that will be dispatched according to a vehicle routing algorithm for efficient removal of snow.

Developed a guidance manual for the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) on superelevation design procedures on shared use corridors and optimizing them based on various criteria like ride comfort and track maintenance.

- Evaluated the condition of Race Street from existing Core Log reports, FWD Data, Visual Inspection and gave various recommendations for rehabilitating the section including a cost estimate of upgrading the roadway section.

The project dealt with identifying the methodology for quantifying in monetary terms the Public Benefits, Economic Impacts and Social Impacts that are derived from a planned high speed rail system.

High capital costs associated with building high speed rail systems have encouraged some countries to plan operation of both freight and high speed passenger trains on the same piece of infrastructure for effective utilization. This project explored the best practices that were followed for such shared use corridors and how can some of these solutions be applied to the U.S. rail systems.

- The project involved Identifying land-use and transportation system trends of Champaign County for the year 2010 and 2040.
- Key issues with the current land use and transportation systems patterns/trends were identified and recommendations were made for enabling a transition to a sustainable community by 2040.

- Studied the need for TSP, current control strategies, advantages of TSP implementation, planning methodologies, discussion on effect of TSP on other traffic, and a review of results of TSP implementation in U.S.

Comprehensive and detailed analysis of the California High Speed Rail Project focusing on the following areas: Route, Station and Depot selection, Environmental Overview, Civil Work Analysis, Core Systems and Track Work Study, Construction Plan, Project Cost and Financing,

- Designed a FRA Class 2 Spur connecting an Ethanol Plant to the Main Line.
- The project involved alignment design and analysis, stationing, track charts, design and quantity take-off of rails and associated fastenings, crossties, substructure and turnout design.
-Determining maintenance requirements and upgrades required for existing tracks.

-Performed a Traffic Impact Study (TIS) of a proposed parking garage at the Illini Union on Green Street in Urbana and Champaign.
-The project involved performing traffic volume counts, traffic capacity analysis, signal design, signal timing optimization and providing recommendations for improvements at intersections to achieve the desired level of service as per HCM 2010.

- Undertook a case study of TransMilenio, a BRT system in Bogota, Colombia that included a review of methodologies and formulations adapted to the characteristics of the BRT system in Bogota along with detailed performance measurements.

The objective of this project was to study the importance of bus transit system in Udupi City and the performance of the service based on commuter perception. It identified opportunities and deficiencies in the system and measures for improving the same were also suggested. The project involved carrying out extensive passenger load surveys as well as questionnaire surveys to assess the commuters' overall transit experience.

We worked on an idea which helped in improving the efficiency of the para-transit public transport system by facilitating co-ordination between the individual vehicle units and their stations without any human interference. Infra-red sensors and microwave transmitters and receivers were used to achieve the result. The project aimed at solving the problem of service availability at stations during peak and off-peak hours.
