Improvement of Para-transit facilities using Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS)
Volvo India - RASTA - Center for Road Technology
We proposed a model which helped improve the efficiency of the para-transit public transport system in an urban setting by facilitating coordination between the individual vehicle units and their controlling stations without any human interference. The project collated observations from traffic surveys and user choice behavior during peak/ off-peak hours in an attempt to minimize waiting times and hence, improve overall service.

Issues for planning Shared Use High Speed Rail Systems in the U.S.
-
High capital costs associated with building high speed rail systems have encouraged some countries to plan operation of both freight and high speed passenger trains on the same piece of infrastructure for effective utilization. This project explored the best practices that were followed for such shared use corridors and how can some of these solutions be applied to the U.S. rail systems.
