Make DE&I a hiring focus. Evaluate your people on how welcoming they are to new team members. In the last couple of years we came across a genius Cornell grad that was unemployed almost a year after graduation. She was brilliant, articulate and charming. And from Africa. During a period of relatively full employment, no one was hiring her. We did and she was an amazing hire. More recently we came across a young Chinese woman that had come to America to go to college. Her English was improving but was not exceptional at the time. What was exceptional? She was. She's an amazing contributor and wonderful person. I think the moral of the story is clear: embrace differences in the hiring process and you and your people will be better off.
