“I am writing this recommendation on behalf of my business associate and personal friend Steve Sylvester. From 2006 to 2009 I worked closely with Steve on the Senior Management Team of John Laing Homes and saw first hand his professional, financial and leadership skills. During that same period of time I also came to know Steve as a man of deep faith, integrity and good will. As the Regional Vice President of Finance for John Laing Homes, Steve had the massive responsibility of managing the business planning and financial reporting for four divisions, generating over $1 billion dollars in revenue. This included annual business planning, five year forecasting, GAAP reporting and oversight off all payables, receivables and accounting. Steve always handled these responsibilities to the highest professional standard. Just as importantly (and impressively) however, he built, developed and led a team of over a dozen people. CPA’s may not generally be known for their people or leadership skills, but Steve breaks this mold by combining financial acumen and experience with outstanding coaching abilities and emotional intelligence. Personally, I have come to admire Steve for his true dedication to his faith, his family and his friends.
