Historically, many utilities relied on IT-centric rather than OT-centric approaches for leveraging real-time data for improved grid operations. But it has become clear that data is best leveraged by ensuring Operations Technology subject matter experts have greater input into implementation processes, because IT personnel often do not understand the operational realities and use cases for the data they are working with. By ensuring that strong models are maintained, solutions can then be leveraged for optimal results. Based on experiences with various projects, utility presenters in this session will show how their operations-centric approaches led to better outcomes, where the promise of ADMS (Advanced Distribution Management System) is realized fully. They are leveraging more reliable data to build better platform models, better workflows, and better integrations.
