You’re leading a large team project. What are the best collaboration tools to use?
Project management tools thrive on quality data input, and it's crucial to recognize their individual specialties. While I personally lean towards Asana and Jira, it's important to weigh (1) their versatility, (2) integration capabilities with your team's tech setup, and (3) adherence to industry standards. For instance, if you're overseeing a technical team, Jira's industry-wide adoption makes it a prime choice. Conversely, for managing a UX team, the intuitive interfaces of Asana or Monday.com might suit better. Let your team dynamics and tech landscape steer you towards the optimal tool.

Don't hesitate to offer impromptu feedback in a manner that fosters two-way communication. Engage individuals by asking questions that help them discover both their strengths and areas for improvement. By doing so, you not only provide pertinent feedback but also empower them to self-correct similar opportunities in the future.

Goals should be created in partnership with the employee, not dictated by the manager. -- Often, goals are imposed by managers rather than being developed collaboratively with employees. This approach deprives employees of ownership and flexibility to explore SMART goals that resonate with them. Therefore, it is critical to foster open dialogue and partnership throughout the goal-setting process. Individual goals should be aligned with your organization’s ambitions. -- The best pieces of advice I received is, "If you don't understand how you contribute to the larger organization, how can you know you are adding value?" The simplest way to address this is by clearly outlining the connection between individual and organizational goals.
