A multi-year / multi-phased design-build transformation of the General Motors Global Technical Center focused on updating the overall engineering campus, which originally opened in 1956. The work to date has included extensive higher end office renovations with mechanical, electrical and architectural upgrades. To date over the last six years I have been the lead superintendent on 8 transformation projects totaling over $350 million dollars mainly at the Cole / Vehicle Engineering Center.

The 8 Square-mile campus renovation e R&E site’s northwest corner—involved the renovation and documentation of all the tunnels systems and utilities that fed 143 buildings. New parking facilities, , lab space, exhibition space and maintenance buildings were provided. This doubled the number of employees at R&E from roughly 11,000 to 22,000 upon full realization of the master plan, supporting greater knowledge exchange, collaboration, and informal social interaction through heightened proximity… Show more

$115 million lump sum Design Build project in which we redeveloped an old brownfield engine plant site. Complete construction of a 1.3 million sq. ft. multi story building and site development with early implementation of RFID markers to document underground utilities. My team won an award for Implementation of Synchro Pro to simulate steel erection.

50,000 SF 2 story laboratory featuring synchro 4D cost loaded schedules and delivery installation simulations

58 story apartment tower with a tricky transfer slab at level 30. Coordination with existing structure from level 28 down. Smart points pushed back to model for verifying existing structure and post tension cable systems were modeled for coordination.

It can be challenging to get caisson equipment under existing roadways

11 MSF, on 4400 acres, 29 miles of underground piping for utilities, custom electrical systems, access roads, a railroad spur and shipping area. Approximately 30,000 tons of structural steel and 600,000 cu yd of concrete were required for the steel-framed facilities, both of which are founded on thousands of 6-ft-dia to 8-ft-dia caissons drilled an average of 70 ft deep to meet the area’s Category D seismic requirements.
