How do you learn from your broker and share best practices with them?
The market is always evolving: soft to hard, hard to harder, new entrants, less capacity, etc. Communicate frequently to provide added value gleamed from underwriting, colleagues, & industry publications. Help them act on the changes. You can learn from your brokers by asking questions. As you develop the relationship you will increase your knowledge on the topics they're interested in. Showing genuine interest in what another person is passionate about makes you appear very interesting yourself, per my world-class grandmother who Aced Dale Carnegie's course "How to Win Friends and Influence People" decades ago. What to share: - success stories - appetite changes - competitor appetite changes aka opportunities - a meal

As Vice President of Programs I oversaw efforts to grow the organization in multiple regions of New York, from Buffalo, to Utica, the Albany-area, the lower Hudson Valley, New York City and Long Island.
In my role as a member of the Executive Board of Directors of the NY YIPs I coordinated the planning and implemention stages of this large and diverse professional networking group. My goals involve growing the organization throughout NY State in 5+ regions, adding new members, connecting more people from various insurance-related backgrounds, and providing educational and entertaining settings that help foster and build relationships.
I recently stepped down as VP but remain an active YIP member in NY & NJ and continue to plan and attend events for the organization and our insurance community. -
