“When I worked with Tim at Raytheon, he quickly proved his worth by diving into development on the Web application we were building. He rapidly learned the technologies and frameworks in our toolbox, including Struts 2, JavaEE technologies such as Enterprise Java Beans, and management of the JBoss web server. He helped build both front-end and back-end pieces of the application, which quickly became the most reliable application that the project had produced, attesting to the quality of his work. Tim is able to dig into tasks that he is assigned, focus on them, and get them done on schedule. He is a knowledgeable, dedicated engineer who is an asset to any team that he is a part of!”

What should you consider before pursuing a management role in technological innovation?
For me, I became a technology leader because I had a vision for the impact that technology could have in my sector. Having a vision for how to leverage technology seems like it should be common, but it's a rare trait. In addition, I became a leader so that I could promote good leadership traits for others and become a mentor.
