You're about to interview for an industrial engineering position. What do you need to know?
Remember lean is all about common sense. Make your day smarter not harder. Continuous improvement is about making a small improvement day in and out. It’s like breathing, it should come naturally. If you put common sense to your day the rest is easy!

You’re managing a difficult project in Lean Manufacturing. How can emotional intelligence help you succeed?
Social awareness, relationship management, self awareness and self management are the main components to EI. Managing the 4 with a solid balance will help in a difficult situation because it will help the brain remember how to act in certain situations and take a pause to make decisions with thought versus quick action.
-
How do you introduce lean principles and manage resistance?
Lean is all about the people. It’s not about how much harder we work, but working smarter. Lean is about common sense but utilizing it well. Once people understand what’s in it for me, they really jump on board. Lean is a pull system where people want to learn more once they see their lives and jobs getting easier each day! Long live lean!!

Autonomous maintenance is the process where operators are involved in maintaining their own equipment while emphasising proactive and preventative maintenance. Improved processes and continuous improvement are key fundamentals of TPM. The TPM process ensures fewer breakdowns, stops, and defects while also lowering costs and engaging employees from C-level on down. Effective communication techniques and top management support help the functionality of TPM. TPM improves equipment operating conditions, enables the achievement of Takt time at the highest possible machine effectiveness, and sustains equipment at an optima level of performance and reliability. TPM also lengthens the life expectancy of equipment, reduces or eliminates breakdowns, eliminates slow running or small stoppages, and aims for zero defects and zero accidents while engaging operators to be 100% involved and committed. This article provides an overview, introduction, and implementation guide to TPM.

This book will explain how the DFSS methodology is used to design robust products, processes, or services right the first time by using the voice of the customer to meet Six Sigma performance. Robust designs are insensitive to variation and provide consistent performance in the hands of the customer. DFSS is used to meet customer needs by understanding their requirements, considering current process capability, identifying and reducing gaps, and verifying predictions to develop a robust design.
This book offers:
Methodology on how to implement DFSS in various industries
Practical examples of the use of DFSS
Sustainability utilizing Lean Six Sigma techniques and Lean product development
Innovative designs using DFSS with concept generation
Case studies for implementing the DFSS methodology
Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) enables organizations to develop innovative designs. In order to redesign an existing process or design a new process, the success is dependent on a rigorous process and methodology. DFSS ensures that there are minimal defects in the introduction of new products, processes, or services. The authors have compiled all of the tools necessary for implementation of a practical approach though innovation.Other authorsSee publication -

Statistical Techniques for Project Control
CRC Press Taylor and Francis Group
A project can be simple or complex. In each case, proven project management processes must be followed. In all cases of project management implementation, control must be exercised in order to assure that project objectives are achieved. Statistical Techniques for Project Control seamlessly integrates qualitative and quantitative tools and techniques for project control. It fills the void that exists in the application of statistical techniques to project control.

In all cases of project management implementation, control must be exercised in order to assure that project objectives are achieved. Statistical Techniques for Project Control seamlessly integrates qualitative and quantitative tools and techniques for project control. It fills the void that exists in the application of statistical techniques to project control.
The book begins by defining the fundamentals of project management then explores how to temper quantitative analysis with qualitative human judgment that makes project control nebulous but also offers opportunities to innovate and be creative in achieving control. The authors then discuss the three factors (time, budget, and performance) that form the basis of the operating characteristics of a project that also help determine the basis for project control. They then focus on computational network techniques for project schedule (time) control.
Although designed as a practical guide for project management professionals, the book also appeals to students, researchers, and instructors.Other authorsSee publication -
