How can data storytelling help you communicate your insights more effectively?
One common mistake I see is the inclusion of too many data insights in a presentation/story that are not directly relevant to the narrative. As data scientist, I totally understand the urge to include all the data insights I discovered along the way and include them in the final presentation. However, with limited time and focus bandwidth available from the audience, it is important to be extremely selective in what we want the audience to remember and takeaway in the end. The fewer insights we call out, the more the audience can focus on these selected few.

How can data storytelling help you communicate your insights more effectively?
One additional consideration is the audience in relation to the level of detail you can include in your data story. When speaking to a team of data scientists, it is often more appropriate (even preferred!) to get into more technical and methodological details. Whereas a data story with fewer, more explicitly explained key takeaways would be more suitable to a more general audience with little context on the subject.

Organize practices and coach the adult wheelchair basketball team, a make up of adult with diverse range of age and disability. The team participates in the California Recreational League and competes against teams from San Jose, Santa Rosa, Sacramento, Shasta, and Reno in monthly tournaments.
