You’re an IT consultant. How do you set boundaries with clients?
Say, "no" with love, but say it. Otherwise clients assume a "yes." Don't pretend to know everything for the sake of the client relationship - clearly articulate where your knowledge starts and stops: they're also paying for your research expertise. Make sure you keep a running list of "Phase 2," requirements for the end of Phase 1, not to use for expanding the initial SOW ad-infinitum. Remember to have fun, your client likely isn't because tech projects are hard and extra work for them, even if you have a great working relationship.

You're preparing for a public speaking event. How do you know which microphone is right for you?
I opt for a handheld mic every time - it allows for "near" and "far" speaking effects, you can tap on it, you can use it to pull in spontaneous audio from devices or audience members. And, it keeps one or both hands occupied while you're speaking.

What are the most effective ways to promote your partnership?
Represent the values of the customers for the industry the partnership represents, and shape your program and its external-facing content towards these values. By putting the consumer/customer at the center of the partnership, communicating in their language, showing up in their world, you present not only business opportunity, but help build the market your partnership serves.

How do you collaborate and coordinate with other functions and departments in a digital ecosystem?
It's about values and meeting the impact economy where it's at, which is a complete reversal of how software and technology is sold to nonprofits. You can't assume that impact organizations are working with the same core business priorities and models as their commercial brethren: they do not. Prioritizing scale profit in sales is going to increasingly alienate impact organizations using cloud software and platforms, which need better product, sales cycle, and domain expertise driven offerings that meet their values and priorities. In short, selling to impact organizations is a long-tail investment, not a short tail "rocket ship."
