Valley Girls & Guys! AND The WHO House Harnessing the power of community to support cancer patients and their families!

Valley Girls & Guys! was originally formed in 2007 by Tina McDonough as a 3 Day walking team to raise money and to support the Susan G. Komen 3-Day Walk for a Cure, in honor of her friend, Michelle Brown, who passed away from cancer later that year. Michelle was only 38 years old, leaving behind a 12 year old daughter and husband. Valley Girls & Guys! was originally formed in 2007 by Tina McDonough as a 3 Day walking team to raise money and to support the Susan G. Komen 3-Day Walk for a Cure, in honor of her friend, Michelle Brown, who passed away from cancer later that year. Michelle was only 38 years old, leaving behind a 12 year old daughter and husband. Since then, the group has expanded beyond just fundraising for the 3-day walk for a cure. In October of 2014 paperwork was filed so that Valley Girls & Guys could become a 501(c)(3) non-profit. In March of 2015 Valley Girls & Guys! was approved for non-profit status.

Valley Girls & Guys! has now expanded their efforts to all cancers and has recently transitioned to lavender for “all cancers.” They send blankets of “comfort and hope” all over the world, opened The Who House by harnessing the power of community to support cancer patients and their families and by providing Who Dream to those terminal with any type of cancer, provide scholarships to high school seniors, find local researchers, equipment, and more.

A few years ago, we teamed up with Mountain for Mammaries as well to help fund mammograms here locally in our state to those who can’t afford them or have no insurance to do so can receive one.

Valley Girls and Guys are active year round raising money to not only fight cancer, but to help patients and their families during treatment. We are changing and saving lives EVERY DAY!

We are currently planning an our inaugural 18 mile Be The Hope xoxo Walk which will be held in Maple Valley, WA on July 20, 2019.
I am part of the planning committee, including making sure the route is perfect and that we have amazing medals to celebrate our accomplishments. Show less

Walking for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is near and dear to my heart. This was my first year, as my Mother In Law was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma. This is another cause that I will continue to support as she is finishing treatment and we wait for a final diagnosis.

Year 4, walking 60+ miles in 3 days on an amazing team, Valley Girls & Guys. We raised over $325,000 this year and have raised over $1.5 million for Susan G. Komen since the inception of this team. We won't stop until a cure is found!

I was honored to be chosen as a volunteer for this event, which benefitted the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

My first few hours were spend on the 40th floor bottle change assistant, where I helped guide firefighters to their teams for bottle changes. I also helped by yelling to the teams the incoming climbers, so they'd be ready.

The next few hours were spend on the top floor, finish line where I helped guide firefighters past the finish line. Helping them get their equipment… Show more

My 6th year walking in the 3-Day. I've personally raised over $14,000 for SGK and my team Valley Girls & Guys! has raised over $2.5 Million!

We walk for ALL cancers.

2nd year volunteer on the 40th floor bottle change shift. Another amazing experience, for an amazing cause.

My 7th year walking 60 miles in 3 days. This year, I had the privilege of walking with my daughter. :) I have personally raised over $16,000 and our team has raised over $2.5 Million for Susan G. Komen.

My 8th year walking 60 miles in 3 days - 2nd time walking with my Daughter and this time in San Diego.
I have personally raised over $18,000 and our team has raised over $3.0 Million for Susan G. Komen.
