    I am a registered member of the National Marrow Donor Program and was found to be a match for a leukemia patient this past summer. I volunteered to be a Peripheral Blood Stem Cell (PBSC) donor for this patient.

    In the days leading up to the donation, I received a series of injections to increase my blood stem cell count. On the final day, I underwent a 6-hour-procedure to harvest the stem cells for the donation.
