Here's how you can use logical reasoning to pinpoint performance gaps.
Imagine you have set a goal of say reducing weight by 5 lbs in 3 months . One path is to set and forget - the danger of this is that at the end of those 3 months , perhaps the result wasn’t achieved but giving no opportunity to course correct. Or check it every week to see if you are directionally correct. Therefore measuring performance progress is so much more critical than simply “ set and forget “

As my math teacher once told me in geometry , you need at least two points to draw a line - if you draw through one, it will only be a tangent . Establishing trends - both historic and predictive are important to understand what story the data is telling us - look for that story , not just a reading . Then Data can be a powerful story teller.

Here's how you can use logical reasoning to pinpoint performance gaps.
A common mistake I see happen is a focus on inputs but not the output. Goals and OKRs will work if they measure the key outcome- the so what vs the effort put in. Effort is good but worthwhile only if the action leads to results. Results can’t be subject to debate and subjectivity - it should be intuitive that success was attained when measured.

How can you identify the strengths of individual team members to enhance team performance?
A great attitude is the biggest strength that differentiate high performers from the average. The humility to accept mistakes and learn something from them, a never say die can do-spirit and the ability to work collaboratively are some of the most valuable strengths. Strengths are not doing everything perfectly. Rather strengths are about making something even out of nothing and to continuously improve and innovate. Strength therefore is a journey and a rewarding one.
