An Administrative Technician position is available with the City of Fort Worth Water Department / Field Operations Division. This position is essential to the daily operations of the division and an integral role in the department's success. The ideal candidate will work in a team environment while providing excellent customer service and administrative support to the daily operations of the Field Operations Division and its employees. Will serve as a department Human Resources Coordinator (HRC), payroll processing, handling large projects; including recruitment, benefits, process reimbursement and travel requests, handling special project duties for the division/department, and other duties as assigned. Will ensure work quality and adhere to established policies and procedures. The Field Operations Division is a 24/7 operation that is fast paced rewarding department that is responsible for the repair, maintenance and install of both the water distribution and wastewater collections system. Incumbent must have strong organizational skills, attention to detail and follow-through, and experience handling multiple priorities and projects.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in Business, Business Administration, Finance, Public Administration, Office Administration or a related field
  • Minimum Two (2) years of clerical and administrative experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) Preferred
  • Previous administrative experience with a large municipality
  • Two (2) years’ Experience looking up data and/or making entries in PeopleSoft (ERP)
  • Two (2) years’ experience with FMLA, medical records, workers compensation claims and ADA accommodations
  • Experience with Microsoft Office: Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel

The Administrative Technician Job Responsibilities Include

  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of an organization coupled with the ability to maintain a strict level of confidentiality at all times
  • Providing staff support, including serving as backup for other staff positions in their absence and performing related duties as assigned
  • Demonstrating customer focus, teamwork and adaptability to a rapidly changing and fast-paced environment as well as communicating clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
  • Assist with department Human Resource Coordinator functions such as interview, handle department new hire onboarding process, major medical and worker’s compensation administrative work
  • Work independently while actively participating in a team environment
  • Provide payroll support and timekeeping duties for 100+ employees
  • Prepares and processes payroll and personnel transactions for an assigned area
  • Processing of license reimbursements and incentive pay
  • Troubleshoot issues for positive outcomes
