Design and develop armor vehicles and armor plating (metallic/composite) for combat vehicles.
Support and participate in armor subsystem and vehicle-level integration, armor testing and verification activities.
Develop data and create design layouts, sketches, and notes necessary for design changes.
Coordinate with Materials Engineer to ensure proper materials are used.
Provide knowledge of survivability discipline; specifically related to the metals/materials used.
Ability to communicate and determine design factors such as availability of materials and equipment, interchangeability, efficiency of metals or materials while maintaining government specifications and requirements.
Participate in the generation and revision of engineering drawings, reports, and procedures.
Represent the company or the Survivability team at internal meetings or meetings with subcontractors, partners, and customers.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (as demonstrated through experience, training and/or testing)
Experience in the design and development of armor vehicles; and/or armor plating.
Ability to work within CAD based design systems.
Knowledge of or ability to learn model-based systems engineering techniques.
Ability to present technical solutions to clients and internal stakeholders.
Knowledge of the US DoD process and procedures for vehicle development and acquisition.
Knowledge of Military Standards.
Well-rounded engineering background with coursework in mechanical engineering, electrical, software and materials.
