LOCATION: 2855 Gramercy St. Houston, TX 77025 This position will be fully remote after initial training.
Position Summary
Contributes to the organization by accurately billing all diagnosis and procedures from the medical record with proper ICD-10 and CPT codes. The Biller is responsible for receiving the coding assignments of the appropriate procedures and diagnosis codes for record maintenance and billing purposes. In addition, the Biller is responsible for daily charges and preparing and submitting claims to third party payers using claims processing software. Other duties include applying patient payments to surgery charges, other adjustments on accounts, review and correct claim submission errors and other duties assigned by management.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Reviews, corrects or re charges diagnosis and procedure codes for each case utilizing currently accepted structures while adhering to guidelines for correct assignment of codes.
Makes necessary corrections to demographics, insurance information to ensure correct claims submission.
Submits/uploads insurance and patient charges daily.
Transmits claims electronically and/or mails out paper claims daily, verifies the accuracy of coding and diagnosis codes.
Maintains charge entry daily.
Applies applying patient payments to surgery charges and other adjustments on accounts.
Monitors logs to make sure claims are submitted and received properly.
Corrects rejected claims and re-bills in a timely manner.
Answers billing questions received from patients, doctors, and clinical staff.
Ensures computer profiles and charges are set up and enters concise and accurate notes in the comments section of the patient account in a timely manner.
Informs management of all problems in a timely manner.
Orders claim forms and statements.
Works daily any accounts on HOLD for error pending clinical staff corrections.
Submits W/C, DARS and any Vision Plan claims.
Other duties as assigned based on business operational needs.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
Requires prolonged sitting, some bending, stooping, and stretching. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator, and other office equipment. Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare and communicate. Work is performed in an office environment. Work may be stressful at times. Staff must remain flexible and available to provide staffing assistance for any/all disaster or emergency situations. Ability to periodically lift up to 25 lbs.

COMPETENCIES
EDUCATION High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSES None required.
EXPERIENCE Minimum of one to two years experience in a physician/medical office, ambulatory surgery center, or hospital business office environment in billing required.
