Business Development Manager - Industrial Engineering & Automation - Houston, TX


Gryphon Oakwood are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Business Development Manager to support the CEO in overseeing sales and marketing team and ensuring sales revenues meet or exceed goals. In this role you will be responsible for meeting predefined sales goals by leveraging technical expertise to drive sales and foster relationships with existing clients and obtaining new clients. Working closely with our teams, you will identify customer needs, provide technical solutions, and effectively communicate the value proposition of our products and services. You will play a pivotal role in expanding our market presence and achieving sales targets by developing and implementing selling strategies. Our ideal candidate has a background in engineering, a proven record of accomplishment in technical sales, possesses excellent leadership skills, and can seamlessly integrate marketing and sales strategies to achieve our goals.


Responsibilities


Sales:

  • Drive New Business Acquisition: Proactively identify and pursue high-potential business opportunities, fostering strong relationships with prospective clients.
  • Expand Existing Client Relationships: Uncover and capitalize on growth opportunities within existing accounts, maximizing the value proposition for both parties.
  • Develop a Robust Lead Pipeline: Implement a comprehensive prospecting and networking strategy to generate a consistent flow of qualified sales leads.
  • Foster Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with internal teams to tailor solutions that comprehensively address unique client needs.
  • Execute Strategic Sales Initiatives: Develop and implement data-driven sales plans that align with overall revenue targets.
  • Deliver Compelling Sales Presentations: Create and deliver impactful presentations that effectively communicate the value proposition to potential clients. Lead exhibition booths and client meetings with confidence and professionalism.
  • Ensure Cohesive Client Acquisition Strategy: Establish and maintain a unified approach to client acquisition within the sales team, fostering consistent messaging and practices.
  • Manage Contract Documentation and Bidding Processes: Meticulously review specifications and analyze contract documents for bids and RFPs, ensuring all submissions are accurate and compliant.
  • Demonstrate Initiative and Resourcefulness: Proactively take ownership of tasks, manage workloads effectively, and find creative solutions independently.


Marketing:

  • Elevate Brand Awareness and Drive Demand: Implement comprehensive marketing strategies to enhance brand visibility and effectively promote company services, generating strong interest and leads.
  • Gain Customer Insights Through Market Research: Conduct in-depth market research to understand evolving customer requirements, pinpoint key industry trends, and identify lucrative growth opportunities.
  • Craft Compelling Marketing Collateral: Develop high-impact marketing materials that effectively showcase the value proposition and capabilities of our company's solutions.


Customer Service:

  • Cultivate Enduring Client Relationships: Foster strong, long-term client relationships through effective communication, proactive problem-solving, and exceeding expectations.
  • Prioritize Client Satisfaction: Continuously monitor client satisfaction and implement data-driven strategies to enhance the client experience and drive loyalty.


Reporting:

  • Deliver Actionable Insights: Provide reliable, real-time forecasts (monthly, quarterly, and annually) to empower informed decision-making.
  • Own Your Territory: Assume full responsibility and accountability for assigned territory performance, driving growth and exceeding goals.
  • Champion the CRM: Maintain and leverage HubSpot CRM as a central hub for client data and interactions, ensuring optimal organization and efficiency.


Leadership:

  • Cultivate a High-Performing Team: Evaluate the performance of sales and marketing teams, providing constructive feedback and coaching to drive individual and team success.
  • Champion Performance Management: Collaborate with HR to conduct comprehensive performance reviews for sales and marketing team members, ensuring clear expectations and ongoing development.
  • Drive Results Through Incentives: Partner with the CEO to develop and implement commission plans and incentive programs that motivate the sales and marketing team to achieve ambitious goals.
  • Foster Accountability and Goal Attainment: Work closely with the sales and marketing team to establish a culture of accountability, ensuring alignment with objectives and fostering goal achievement.
  • Lead a Geographically Dispersed Team: Provide effective leadership and support to a team operating across multiple offices and territories, fostering a cohesive and high-performing unit.


Qualifications

  • BS degree in business administration, marketing, or related field.
  • BS degree in engineering preferred.
  • 10+ years of sales experience.
  • 5+ years of successful engineering sales experience preferred.
  • Proficient in project costing and bidding process.
  • Strong analytical and financial acumen.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
