Essential Functions

Specific tasks, responsibilities or competencies may be documented in the incumbent’s performance objectives as outlined by the incumbent’s immediate supervisor or manager.

  • On a regular basis, designs, develops, and maintains BI solutions, including automated reports and dashboards using Power BI and other reporting tools to assist in making informed decisions and ultimately helping to drive business strategies.
  • By collaborating with business leaders, understand business requirements to set functional specifications for reporting applications and translate those needs into actionable solutions.
  • Ensure the accuracy, reliability, and timeliness of data and reporting provided.
  • Extract, transform, and load (ETL) from various data sources.
  • Incumbent should have strong technical skills with DAX, Power BI, Power Query, and SQL. (Additional experience with other tools and programming languages is a plus.)
  • Exhibit a foundational understanding of database concepts such as relational database architecture, multidimensional database design, etc.
  • Design and map data models that transform raw data into insightful knowledge by understanding business requirements in the context of BI.
  • Develop technical specifications from business needs, and choose a suitable deadline for work completion.
  • Create charts and data documentation that includes descriptions of the techniques, parameters, models, and relationships. Develop using Power BI desktop to create dashboards, KPI scorecards, and visual reports. Create dynamic and eye-catching dashboards and reports using Power BI.
  • Establish row-level security on data and comprehend Power BI’s application security layer models.
  • Regularly examine, comprehend, and study business needs as they relate to business intelligence and propose solutions to business leaders.
  • Make necessary tactical and technological adjustments as needed to enhance current business intelligence systems.
  • Integrate data, alter data, and connect to data sources for business intelligence.
  • Provider training and technical support, as needed, to end-users.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Education, Licensure or Certification:

  • BS in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related field. A master’s degree is a plus.

Work Experience Or Related Experience

  • Three to five years of experience in analytics, BI development, data modeling and visual creation.
  • Experience in healthcare or medical fields in which incumbents have gained an understanding of durable medical equipment is strongly preferred.
  • A high level of professionalism, customer service and discretion is required to represent the organization and interact with other organizations as described.

Specialized Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Effective project management skills and the ability to remain focused and organized given multiple priorities is essential. This includes the ability to prioritize, multi-task, work under pressure and with tight deadlines, and work independently toward objectives.
  • Extremely good communication skills are necessary to effectively explain the requirements between both internal teams and external teams.
  • Exceptional analytical thinking skills for converting data into illuminating reports and dashboards.
  • Strong knowledge of Power BI Desktop, Power BI Service, Power Query, DAX, M Code, and SQL required.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of data modeling, schema design, and data visualization required.
  • Detailed knowledge of ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes, methodologies, and framework.
  • The ability to articulate, represent, and analyze solutions with the team while documenting, creating, and modeling them.
  • Additional familiarity with other BI tools and technologies preferred (e.g. data gateway management, data warehousing, database management, SSRS and TSQL, Microsoft Business Intelligence Stack, and MDX).
  • Capacity to perform in an atmosphere where agility and continued development are prioritized.

Equipment

  • Working knowledge of a PC, business and communications software (MS Office) and web-based tools are required
  • Familiarity with Quick Book Enterprise software is strongly preferred

  • Work is generally performed in an office environment or remote setting in which there is only minimal exposure to unpleasant and/or hazardous working conditions.

  • This position entails a high level of work performed at a computer terminal throughout the day as well as moderate use of a telephone or headset equipment.
