Camera Operator and Press Box Staff

Press Box Staff will start during the spring semester (early April) and run through the end of the baseball season (September). Training will be given during the month of March. The baseball season officially begins in April where staff are expected to work most home games through September. Games are played on nights, weekends, and holidays. Ability to work most Friday and Saturday games is expected. An hourly wage and college credit can also be awarded for students that need internship credit.

Press Box Staff

Press Box Staff work cooperatively as a part of the Lugnuts’ in-game entertainment staff. Individuals have the opportunity to rotate and learn different positions. 1 position is available.

Positions Include

  • Switcher/Technical Director – The Switcher is directly responsible for operation of the switcher during all elements the game. They will call for shots and direct camera operators.
  • Show Control Operator – The Show Control operator is responsible for the operation of the Lansing Lugnuts LED video boards before and during the Lugnuts’ home games.
  • Video Camera Operator - Responsible for the operation of the Lansing Lugnuts’ video camera before and during the games. This including live game action, in-game contests, and crowd shots.
  • 3Play Operator - Responsible for the operation of the video replays on the LED video board and stream during games. Operator is also responsible for organizing, editing, and compiling clips.
  • Backup Statistics Operator – Watch and record statistics into the stats computer through Dak Stats as the game is happening. Stats will be displayed on the video boards throughout the game. Must be able to pay attention to the baseball game and work with the official scorer throughout the game.

Skills/Qualifications

  • Applicants should be college students or recent graduates pursuing a degree/career in Production, Broadcast, or related field.
  • Video camera experience, sports video experience is a plus.
  • Understand camera settings and be able to adjust to get the best results in different scenarios.
  • Experience with positions besides camera can determine the amount of shifts on other positions.
  • Proficient in photo editing software like Adobe Photoshop or Lightroom.
  • Exceptional communication skills (both verbal and non-verbal)
