Position Title :Career Educator, Center for Career Development & Academic Exploration
Reports to :Assistant Director, Outreach
The University of Tennessee, Knoxville invites applications for the position of Career Educator in the Center for Career Development and Academic Exploration (CCDAE).

The Division: The Division of Student Success at UT works to engage each student scholar’s experience by supporting their unique strengths and goals. It collaborates with UT faculty and staff to help each student scholar maximize their individual strengths and understand how their strengths contribute to their academic dreams, career paths, and personal well-being. As a member of Student Success, the center’s mission is empowering student scholars to create and achieve career goals by providing comprehensive career education.
The Department: The center provides comprehensive career development offerings and resources to undergraduate and graduate students from nine academic colleges. Staff is comprised of 32 professional and administrative positions, 10+ peer career advisors, and several student employees.The CCDAE is committed to diversity and inclusion and helping students explore the impact of identity on career development.
Position Summar y: The Career Educator provides career education to students through programming and presentations across campus populations. Working closely with the Assistant Director for Outreach, the Career Educator responds to requests for career content from campus partners, student organizations, and instructors teaching general education classes. Provides individual and group career coaching. Additionally, this position provides oversight and direction for the Peer Career Advisor program. This role will work some regular evening hours.

Position Responsibilities :
Career programming and office outreach
- Develop and deliver career presentations and workshops to student organizations, campus partners, and instructors of general education courses.
- Update, curate, and create new career resources and self-service content, such as, quick explainer videos, career topics, and Handshake resources.
- Create opportunities to increase student engagement on and understanding of Handshake.
- Respond to requests for tabling and other collaborative programs. Help manage the presentation intake form.
- Manage logistical details for career programming, such as, networking events, Vol Treks, and panels that allow students to engage with employers, alumni and other professionals.
- Communicate and market departmental offerings and career readiness to partners and students.
- Assist with the CCDAE's social media presence and other marketing responsibilities by managing and creating content with the social media team
- In support of the Assistant Director, provide additional oversight to the PCA's including overall recruitment strategy, selection, and leading selected trainings.
- Guide and review PCA marketing efforts and social media presence for department.
- Coordinate PCA scheduling and reminders for presentation and outreach activities alongside the Lead PCA.Approve final presentation content.
- Provide career coaching to students on a variety of general career topics.
- Support the DSS evening hours initiative by providing coaching and workshops on a regular basis.
- Offer career coaching and other related services during peak times of business or vacancies of other coaches.
- Represent and present for the CCDAE in activities, events, and programs that are in line with the center's mission, including career fairs, orientation, visit days, etc., and community outreach.
- Divisional: Participate in division activities that are in line with overall mission of Student Success as requested by division leadership such as speed coaching, student engagement, etc.
- Professional: Hold membership and participate in professional organizations that are aligned with the center, division's and university's mission.

- Experience mentoring, coaching, or programming for college students or experience working with others in one-on-one and group settings. Student leadership roles will be considered.
- One year of experience working in higher education (part-time work will be considered).Experience working with college students in a setting related to career development, student life, or student success.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Strong interpersonal skills, including oral, written, and listening communication capabilities
- Ability to plan, organize and coordinate events and programs
- Ability to learn and effectively use technologies and social media platforms.
- Knowledge of job search strategies and career development theories, best practices, and resources
- Knowledge of on-line career database systems and other current/emerging technologies within the career development field
- Ability to build relationships across populations, internal and external to the University.
