Description

Under the direction of the RTLS Manager, the RTLS Engineer performs troubleshooting, maintenance, and optimization of the RTLS system. The RTLS Engineer must have good in-depth knowledge of the CenTrak hardware and software solutions, understand basic networking topology concepts, hospital operational workflows, and be able to understand the policies, procedures and constraints of operational departments supported by the system. The RTLS Engineer will work with departmental owners, vendors, and IS team members to resolve complex problems and implement new areas of coverage. The RTLS Maintenance Engineer will be able to work independently on items assigned by the manager.

  • Achieve in-depth knowledge of hospital/clinical workflows and RTLS features supporting the workflows, and serve as the RTLS Subject Matter Expert for departments.
  • Respond and address issues reported in a timely manner. Provide prompt service and communication with end users of the system.
  • Participate in the regular system maintenance activities such as battery maintenance, infrastructure audits, input of new equipment tracking tags and infrastructure, updating software settings, assisting in the physical installation and implementation of new areas of coverage.
  • Input equipment and tag information into RTLS application in a consistent manner.
  • Meet with departmental users for education, troubleshooting, and maintenance related concerns. Escalate to management if an issue is at risk for not meeting the standard level of service.
  • Update system reports and notifications.
  • Assist in the development of user training aids and may train end users in workflow and use of the application when necessary.
  • Create, test, and monitor RTLS alerting system.
  • Utilize support tools for identifying battery replacement needs and troubleshooting.
  • Replace batteries in Tags, Sensors, and ceiling mounted infrastructure.
  • Submit support tickets to RTLS vendor for advanced troubleshooting needs.
  • Initiate and track RMA’s on behalf of end users.
  • Research network related connectivity issues and troubleshoot system problems independently, document findings, and propose solutions.
  • Works with Information Systems department to activate ports and provide port information as required.
  • Order materials using premier purchasing system.
  • Assist in setting up par levels, reports, and alerts.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Six years of experience working with an RTLS product in a healthcare environment, OR a Bachelor's degree in health care information technology, computer science, or related area, PLUS two years of experience working with an RTLS product in a healthcare environment.
  • Experience and proven success in information systems implementation, development and support within a large-scale healthcare organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide expert consultative guidance and direction on change initiatives affecting clinical care processes.
  • Demonstrated ability in workflow and data analysis and design techniques, including needs assessment, specification development, quantitative methods, planning and gap analysis.
  • Ability to effectively utilize system tools to meet functionality needs of users.
  • Ability to plan and organize day-to-day activities along with short and long-term projects; in-depth knowledge of organizational and project planning processes and ability to produce and maintain high quality planning documents.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Dedicated team player with strong interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three years directly supporting an RTLS product in healthcare, preferably CenTrak.
  • Preferred Certifications: CenTrak temperature tag installer, CenTrak infrastructure installer
  • Demonstrated experience as a major participant in a clinical system implementation.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs. Occasional nights and weekends required based on business needs.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
  • This position is 100% on-site.
  • This position is a highly mobile position that requires frequent walking and standing. Will climb ladders to work on infrastructure installed on ceilings.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $67,200 - $119,600 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $32.18 - $57.28

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
