Position Summary

The Chief Information Officer (CIO) will play a critical role in shaping and executing our technology strategy for INW, a leading contract manufacturer in the nutritional and wellness space. The CIO will oversee all aspects of information systems development, implementation, and governance to ensure regulatory compliance for the information systems management system to applicable standards. The CIO will lead a team of IT professionals and collaborate with other senior executives to ensure that our investments in technology and information systems align with our business objectives and deliver maximum value to the business.

Responsibilities

May supervise staff directly and indirectly. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Reporting Relationship

This role serves as a member of the Executive Leadership Team.

Location:

This position can essentially work from any location. The Company is headquartered in the Salt Lake City, UT area and includes six operating divisions that span a footprint exceeding 1,500,000 sq. ft. both domestically and internationally. Candidates must have the capability to work from remote location(s) and independently, as needed. Travel requirements dependent on business needs; primarily domestic travel.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Core duties and responsibilities include the following; other duties, as required.

  • Strategic Technology Leadership:
    • Develop and execute the company's technology roadmap, aligning it with business objectives.
    • Provide strategic guidance and oversight for all IT initiatives, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
    • Identify emerging technologies and trends relevant to the dietary supplement industry and assess their potential impact on our business.
  • Information Security and Compliance:
    • Establish and enforce robust cybersecurity measures to protect our sensitive data and intellectual property.
    • Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory standards and certifications, such as FDA regulations, cGMP (Current Good Manufacturing Practices), and ISO standards.
    • Implement and maintain effective disaster recovery and business continuity plans to mitigate risks and minimize disruptions.
    • Ensure compliance with applicable data protection regulations.
    • Lead the cybersecurity committee and oversee the audit function.
  • IT Infrastructure and Operations:
    • Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of scalable and reliable IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, and cloud infrastructure.
    • Optimize IT operations and support processes to enhance efficiency, reliability, and user satisfaction.
    • Evaluate and procure IT hardware, software, and services in accordance with budgetary constraints and business requirements.
  • Regulatory Compliance and Quality Management:
    • Stay current on industry relevant regulatory guidelines.
    • Establish and maintain systems and protocols to ensure compliance with FDA regulations, cGMP standards, ISO27001 and other relevant quality assurance frameworks.
  • Manufacturing Automation and Optimization:
    • Ensure performance and security of the OT environment.
  • Business Intelligence and Analytics:
    • Drive the development and deployment of advanced analytics and business intelligence solutions to extract insights from data and support data-driven decision-making.
    • Implement data analytics and machine learning tools to optimize production efficiency and quality control.
  • Vendor and Partner Management:
    • Manage relationships with external technology vendors, service providers, and strategic partners to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality services and solutions.
    • Negotiate contracts and service level agreements (SLAs) to achieve favorable terms and conditions while meeting business needs.
    • Manage relationships with technology vendors and service providers, ensuring alignment with company goals and standards.
  • Team Leadership and Talent Development:
    • Lead a multidisciplinary technology team, maintaining a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
    • Recruit, mentor, and develop top talent in the technology organization, providing guidance and professional development opportunities.
Requirements

Education AND/OR Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field or equivalent experience. Computer science or engineering degree preferred.
  • Proven experience (5 years) in a senior leadership role overseeing IT functions, preferably within the dietary supplement, food manufacturing, or pharmaceutical industry.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and ERP systems in a regulated environment. Experience with JD Edwards preferred.
  • Deep understanding of regulatory compliance requirements in the dietary supplement industry, such as FDA regulations and GMP standards.
  • Strong strategic thinking and business acumen, with the ability to align technology initiatives with business objectives and drive organizational change.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and influence strategic decision-making at the executive level.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build consensus, influence stakeholders, and collaborate effectively across functions.
  • Demonstrated experience in cybersecurity, IT infrastructure management, business intelligence, and vendor management.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, ITIL) are a plus.
  • Must have team building and leadership skills.
  • Travel required.
  • Must be able to understand, speak, read and write in English in order to perform the essential functions of the job as they relate to comprehension of laws, regulations, standards, documents and other internal and external communications.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, sit; use hands, talk and hear. The employee may regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. May regularly work within office and warehouse environments.
