Claims Legal Operations Leader

Job Description

A prominent player in the property and casualty insurance market is seeking a Claims Legal Operations Leader. The Claims Legal Operations Leader will oversee the claims litigation management program by developing the vision and goals for the unit, as well as maintaining litigation and billing guidelines, panel law firm relations, and legal bill reviews. This collaborative and dynamic leader will engage across the organization, interfacing with senior leadership and various departments in support of long-term goals and objectives to drive profitable results. Key deliverables will be overseeing litigation operations while strategically planning the expansion of the group. This is a retained search.

Responsibilities

  • Set and convey the vision and goals for the legal operations unit and individual members.
  • Oversee litigation management training of all claims supervisors and develop a mentorship program.
  • Develop metric-based reports and analysis of all litigation matters.
  • Develop and monitor litigation management strategies, including development and oversight of the litigation management audit process.
  • Oversee trial calendars for litigated claims, develop litigation strategy with senior claims leadership and attend trials, as needed.
  • Create lessons learned on all litigated files.
  • Collaborate with staff counsel leadership to maximize success of the staff counsel operation.
  • Establish and maintain reasonable, necessary and current litigation and billing guidelines.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of property and casualty claims and/or litigation leadership experience
  • Deep knowledge of property and casualty lines of business
  • Strong foundation in legal operations and billing systems
  • Experience adapting and implementing claims transformation efforts, including processes and technology
  • Demonstrated strength in project management, as well as achieving business goals and objectives
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; insurance professional designations (preferred)
