InterMed sells and services medical equipment for our customers across the country and we are growing! This rapid growth has us searching for an experienced Clinical Engineer.

Summary

Reporting to the General Manager, the Clinical Engineer is integrally involved in the delivery of the HTM program. With primary responsibilities focusing in the areas of capital replacement planning, cybersecurity, and project management, the clinical engineer serves as a member of the local leadership team. The Clinical Engineer is also involved in supporting the technical staff as well as the management team regarding all aspects of the HTM program. This position requires strategic vision, strong leadership, and exceptional organizational skills to ensure the successful execution of programs in alignment with client and company objectives.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Conducts independent work in support of all phases of the clinical technology lifecycle.
  • Manages a limited number of simple individual projects including a sub-project within a program.
  • Monitors emerging technologies; reports on healthcare related technology trends; assess new healthcare related technologies; disseminates healthcare related technology information as appropriate across the Health System enterprise.
  • Assists with the development of equipment configurations in consultation with user groups and strategic partners.
  • Assists with the production of 5-year clinical technology forecasts and strategic plans for service area, regional, and national purchasing plans. Conducts cost-benefit analyses.
  • Assists with consultative support to the Healthcare Technology Management leadership in the development of service maintenance contracts, data analysis, technology assessments and forecasts, and other forms of customized consultation.
  • Assists with the deployment of clinical technology in new and existing care delivery environments; provides technical and environmental requirements; assists with the reviews of facility construction plans, templates; assists with the reviews of startup equipment lists; assists with equipment installations as needed.
  • Assists with system assessment, design, implementation, and support strategy for clinical technology IT networks and integrations within service areas, regions, and/or across the enterprise.
  • Assist with the reviews of FDA and non-regulatory Hazard Alerts to determine appropriate level of response in collaboration with the Supply Chain Management team; consults with operational leaders, risk managers, and facility directors to ensure compliance at the service area, regional, and enterprise levels.
  • Assists with incident investigations and equipment performance analysis.
  • Leads communications, drives timelines, and ensures all parties are actively engaged in projects set by either Client or InterMed.

Required Experience, Education, And Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or engineering technology required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in clinical or biomedical engineering preferred.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • 2+ years clinical engineering experience within a healthcare technology management department preferred.
  • Experience delivering simple projects.
  • Demonstrated understanding of basic engineering principles
  • Working technical knowledge of clinical technology (i.e., devices and systems) used in at least two clinical specialties along with an understanding of the related clinical practices.
  • Working knowledge of information technologies as they relate to networking, integration, and interoperability of clinical technologies.
  • Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, database management, and presentation software
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively present complex information and influence decision-making.
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on driving results and delivering value to the organization.
  • Proficiency in project management software tools and applications, as well as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio).

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS

Requires excellent communication and follow through skills, and a high level of comfort working with databases and technology. Occasionally dealing with high stress issues relating to client demands. Occasionally lift parts and equipment over 20lbs. Works constantly while sitting (67% to 90% of the time) on the phone and computer entering data and coordinating service. Must be able to travel to InterMed offices, customer locations, and other destinations for business related functions.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Requires routine contact with staff and clients. May require after hours work on a company-provided phone and/or laptop. Work is normally performed in air conditioned/heated facilities.
