Construction Manager
Role: Construction Manager
Location: Washington, DC 20301 (Must be local to DMV – onsite at Pentagon most days)
Duration: Long term contract
Task Description: The primary purpose of this position is: To serve as an Operations Project Officer in the office of the Administrative Assistant to the Secretary of the Air Force, Facilities Support Division. The incumbent is technically and administratively responsible for the planning, coordinating, design and control, and inspection of Air Force construction projects in the Pentagon and Air Force assigned leased space in the National Capital Region. Manages, monitors and directs the on-site construction for the Secretariat, Air Staff and other Air Force customers. Interfaces with Washington Headquarters Services, Federal Facilities Division, Alterations Work Group (WHS/FFD/AWG), and the Pentagon Building Management Office (PBMO). Responsible for providing updates to Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD), work order database, and working with engineering service providers (Architectural and Engineering (A/E) firms). Ensures the work order program accurately reflects construction work that is in progress or waiting to start. Prepares drawing layouts, floor plans, work flow charts, etc. Analyzes and evaluates requester's personnel and equipment requirements' impact on the renovations/construction. Ensures that all " as-built" drawing are updated and maintained in the database system by informing the systems administrator of any and all changes to drawings in the CADD system.
Coordinates with other teams, as required, on any construction/alterations being accomplished in conjunction with other work such as furniture or carpet installations to ensure that conflicts and delays are avoided during the construction and furniture installation phases. Gives technical and administrative assistance, advice, and briefs the Division//Team Chief when a higher level of involvement is required to alleviate progress delays on projects. Ensures construction quality, timeliness of completion, and cost are within budget. Maintains current records of project progress and takes timely action on those projects which fall behind schedule without legitimate cause.

Knowledge

- Knowledgeable of standard construction practice in accordance with GSA, OSD and Air Force regulations and policies.
- Knowledgeable of cost estimating procedures.
- Knowledgeable of Air Force organizational structure and how it operates.
- Skilled in basic computer word processing and database management applications programs.
- Skilled in construction project management.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Ability to determine and set priorities based on current Air Force goals.
- Ability to interpret construction drawings, regulations and policies pertaining to construction and renovation.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
